Arsenal is one of English football’s giants, and as such, is a regular
contender for any domestic and European Trophy. Still, the last couple
of years were not good enough for a club the calibre of Arsenal.
The
Gunners came out rather well from Thierry Henry's departure, as the
young players took responsibility, but Arsenal's thin squad and the
lack of experience brought them close to the well, only to see
Manchester United and Chelsea finishing above. If that wasn't enough,
the great performances by the young guns drew the attention of the big
clubs, as both Mathieu Flamini and Alexander Hleb went to seek their fortunes in Italy and Spain, respectively. Luckily for Wenger, he still
has Cesc Fabregas, who excelled in Euro 2008 and will be the one taking
most of the burden on his young yet talented shoulders and legs. To his aid will come Samir Nasri, the talented midfielder bought from Marseille and Aaron Ramsey who will try to justify his £5m price tag.
Bottom Line: The Gunners will play the best football in England, only to finish 3rd or 4th.
